Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated India’s first-ever Mondo Track at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, set to host the World Para-Athletics Championships (Sept 26–Oct 5). This makes India the 25th country to install the high-performance track, known for enhancing athlete safety and performance.
The event was attended by top para-athletes and legends like Anju Bobby George and Devendra Jhajharia. Mandaviya expressed pride in the milestone and reiterated India’s ambition to become a sporting powerhouse by 2047, with upcoming bids for CWG 2030 and Olympics 2036.
Post-inauguration, a football match was held where the Minister scored two goals, capping off the celebration on National Sports Day.
