As part of the Khelo India Games series, a new initiative titled Khelo India Tribal Games has been introduced with the objective of creating a unified, structured and government-supported competition framework for grassroots and untapped talent from tribal communities across India. Aligned with the Khelo India Scheme, the initiative is envisaged as a catalyst for grassroots talent identification by streamlining the competition pathway from the district to the national level. The Games aim to provide a uniform, credible and inclusive platform for young tribal athletes to showcase their potential.
The 1st edition Khelo India Tribal Games will be to be hosted in Chhattisgarh and will feature 7 Competitive Sports ie. Archery, Athletics, Football, Hockey, Swimming, Weightlifting & Wrestling and 2 Demo Sports.
In view of the above, The logo, theme song and mascot of the first-ever Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG) were formally unveiled on Tuesday at the Late BR Yadav Sports Stadium, Bilaspur. The games are scheduled to start from February 14, 2026.
