India batter Smriti Mandhana created history on Sunday during the 4th T20I against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram, achieving a remarkable world record. The 29-year-old became the fastest woman to complete 10,000 runs in international women’s cricket, surpassing former India captain Mithali Raj. Mandhana reached the landmark in just 280 innings, while Mithali had taken 291 innings. She went into the match with 9,973 international runs to her name and crossed the milestone in style.
Smriti Mandhana became only the second Indian woman after Mithali Raj to score 10,000 runs in international women’s cricket (across Tests, ODIs & T20Is)
She also entered an elite global club — joining Mithali Raj (IND), Suzie Bates (NZ) and Charlotte Edwards (ENG) as the fourth woman ever to reach this milestone
Mandhana achieved the 10,000-run mark faster than any other woman cricketer — reaching it in just 281 innings, beating Mithali Raj’s previous mark of 291.
