India’s promising athlete Prajakta Godbole fights hunger in Nagpur Slum

24 year old Prajakta Godbole , who had represented India Universities  in the 5000 m race  at World University  Games Italy in 2019, is fighting to get meal to satiate the hunger as her  mother has been jobless due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Prajakta Godbole resides with her parents in a Siraspeth Slum in Nagpur. Her  father  Vilas Godbole earlier worked as security guard  but met with an accident and is paralyzed now. Her mother Aruna  used to work as cook  at a catering service to earn Rs 5000- Rs 6000 per month.  Prajakta’s mother   was the only one source of income in a family of three. Due to ongoing lockdown marriages are not happening  and  her mother is not getting  salary to  get meal to satiate their hunger.  However they are serving now on the help provided by people from nearby areas.

Prajakta said “she does not know what to do in these circumstances and whom to approach as they belong to a poor family”. Prajakta also said that “she has not sought  help  from  athletics officials in the district or in the State”
